A chef-led barbecue at a booked East Coast Park pit — one evening, Fourteen guests at one long table, and the whole menu cooked for you over a proper fire.
Arrive to smoke already curling off the pit — the chef started the chicken an hour ago; find the ice tub, sink your bottle into it, say hello.
The grill-order lottery: everyone draws a numbered wooden peg from a bag, and that's the order you get called up as the chef's extra pair of hands.
First platters land: smoked-then-grilled chicken, eaten standing at the pit, straight off the grill.
Sunset over the shipping lanes while the prawns go on; the chef shows the burnt-butter baste to whoever is holding the tongs.
Charred pineapple with lime salt, and a round of Two Truths, One Lie — food stories only, over the last of the wine.
A kopi run to the food village for anyone who wants one, then a slow pack-down, phone numbers swapped, the last of the sea breeze coming in off the water.
If it rains: Honest answer: the pits themselves are open to the sky, with rest shelters nearby. We bring a canopy for the tables, and a charcoal fire burns happily through light rain — some of the best evenings are drizzly ones. If the radar shows a proper storm, we call it by 3pm that day and you choose between the backup date and a full refund.
No. The most strenuous thing on offer is carrying a platter ten steps across the grass. Grill turns are optional, and the chef does the real work either way.
No. The table is built for solo guests: the grill-order lottery pairs you at the fire with someone new, and by the time dinner lands you already have someone to sit beside.
Light rain, we carry on under the canopy; the charcoal keeps burning. A genuine storm, we call it by 3pm on the day, and you pick the backup date or take a full refund.
Full refund up to seven days before. Inside seven days, the chef and the food are already committed, so we move you to a later Saturday Pause instead. Weather cancellations are always a full refund or a free transfer, your choice.
