The cast-iron pier over MacRitchie Reservoir

A slow green morning, then kopi and kaya toast.

Saturday 17 October 2026 (tentative · confirmed a week out) · 8:00am to 11:00am · MacRitchie Reservoir Park, meet at the Amenities Centre, off Lornie Road

An unhurried three-hour walk along MacRitchie's boardwalks: ten of you, pauses built in, and kopi and kaya toast at the finish.

Why give it a Saturday

How the day runs

7:50am

Find us at the Amenities Centre steps — we're the ones holding the small paper sign.

8:00am

We set off along the water's edge while the air is still cool and the reservoir is still glass.

8:40am

First pause on the Prunus boardwalk for a two-minute lesson in monkey manners, and how to spot a monitor lizard cruising the shallows.

9:20am

At a quiet bend we stop, look at the water, and turn for home; pairs reshuffle on their own, and the forest gives you plenty to point at.

10:10am

The last stretch back along the reservoir, sun properly up now, kayakers out, dragonflies over the water.

10:40am

Kopi and kaya toast at the Amenities Centre, and the table stays ours for as long as anyone wants to sit.

The practical bits

Included

  • A gentle 4.5km route on mostly flat boardwalk, planned end to end
  • A host who watches the clock for the whole group
  • The kopi and kaya toast round at the finish
  • A small spotting card · what lives here, and how to be good company to it
  • Walking pairs that reshuffle at every pause, so the company keeps changing on its own

Bring

  • A full water bottle
  • Shoes you don't mind getting a little muddy
  • A cap for the open stretches
  • A light poncho or small brolly for October's showers

If it rains: October is Singapore's inter-monsoon, but its storms mostly arrive after 2pm, which is exactly why we start at 8am. In light drizzle we walk on; the canopy does most of the umbrella work and we carry spare ponchos. If heavy rain or a lightning alert greets us at the start, we begin with the kopi instead and wait up to 45 minutes. If the whole morning is a washout, you choose: the backup Saturday, or a full refund.

The token
S$15

S$15 a person covers the organising and your kopi round at the finish. Ten guests, never more.

Asked, answered

How fit do I need to be?

If you can manage a long afternoon at a mall, you can manage this. It's about 4.5km on flat boardwalk, spread over three hours, with plenty of standing-still and one proper sit-down at the end.

Can I come alone?

Yes. Pairs reshuffle at every pause, so the company changes on its own the whole morning. Pairs reshuffle at every pause, so by the kopi you'll have walked beside nearly everyone.

What happens if it rains?

Drizzle, we walk — the canopy is generous and we carry ponchos. A stormy start, we begin with kopi and wait up to 45 minutes. A full washout, you pick the backup Saturday or take a full refund.

What's the refund policy?

A full refund up to 48 hours before. Inside 48 hours you can pass your spot to a friend. If we cancel for weather, you're refunded in full or moved to the backup date, your choice.
